DINGMANS FERRY-On June 11, local students Kristin and Melissa Kelleher received certificates in recognition of their week last summer and fall with Akenac Park.  The sisters spent 60 hours assisting Recreation Director Colleen Della Bella with various projects including the summer program and the haunted house.

Township Chairman Thomas M. Ryan, along with Supervisors Jeffrey Scheetz, and Robert Luciano, presented the certificates of appreciation.  Ryan said that the Board was “very thankful and appreciative” for their hard work. Melissa Kelleher is 12 and just completed 7th grade at Dingman-Delaware Middle School.  Kristen Kelleher is 15 and just completed 9th grade at Delaware Valley High School.

Akenac Park recently received a Gaming Grant for projects such as a second entrance to the park.  The Board also approved the purchase of windows from Home Depot for $4, 092.51 from the General Fund for the Recreation Hall at Akenac Park after comparing quotes during the workshop before the Regular Meeting.  They will do installation in-house.

The Kelleher sisters will continue to work with Della Bella at Akenac Park this summer, where camp activities begin June 23. Planned activities include nature walks, crafts, and a new children’s Book Club.  The first free movie night of the summer will be “Frozen” on June 21st at Akenac Park.  Gates will open at 7 p.m., and the movie starts at dark.  For more information call (570) 828-7311.
